From the Christmas Holiday...  To Preparing for Valentine's Day ...

When I stopped by Beverly Benson Seaman's Gallery at 2 Newman Road in Newbury, Massachusetts, [www.bensongallery.com ] I had  no idea of the gifts that were to meet me there...     First, there was my being introduced to Beverly Benson Seaman's incredible story by her son, John.  A wealth of experience and information, he filled the hour with great introduction to the course of his mother's career as an artist and introduced me to many of her sculptural works -  a result of years of 50 years of production.  This meant more to me than just being a potential buyer of her work.  As an artist, as a female artist, and as a sculptor - it was a very soulful enriching experience.          So inspired was I with his knowledge and a disposition to help others know his mother through her work that I am writing this blog post, though I refer to her obituary to summarize the colorful stories and great storytelling her son shared wi...

When I started my artwork a question of how can I make a difference ? was definitely present in my thoughts most everyday...    Over 1 million marine animals (including mammals, fish, sharks, turtles, and birds) are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean. Currently, it is estimated that there are 100 million tons of plastic in oceans around the world. It is expected that another 60 billion pounds will be produced this year alone. In some areas, the buildup of plastics is estimated to span 5 million square miles. Artist Statement    As a visual artist I have spent many hours creating a unique language - communicating ideas in  wire and steel. These works are renditions of my life experience, added hours in research. Some of this is research about place, or , some is the realization that art has an opportunity to set in motion ideas, ideas that become a collaboration between the viewer and the maker.  To be clear, I spend a lot of time listening, my hope is to extend a deeper understanding in my art in a way that can become a vector to simply sharing our commonalities rather than our differences. In this way I enjoy the process as much as the outcome of building art in my metal wall hangings and 3-dimensional sculpture.  My line work is often thought out in a ​wire sketch - ​ as I put every line in place this allows me to communicate an idea in both line and form prior to committing that form to a larger project.  When I am creating for a ...
