Sculpture Completed for Non-Profit, On Belay.

I had wished for quite some time to work alongside a corporation or small business to create an iconic sculpture for their organization.   When I met Ruth Abelmann  at a local art fair in Durham, NH (and a couple of art commissions later)  the idea that I could get involved in the process of creating work for the organization On Belay came up.  We met several times after that in person, and at On Belay events.  Stephanie Beck became my touchpoint person.  After several months we agreed on a design which I had created in wire, and then with the help of autocad technician, Deiter Kunath we were able to create our 7 foot tall aluminum sculpture which is currently on display at the Browne Center in Durham, NH.    Ruth had suggested a smaller piece to sell as a fundraising item and after much recalculation we were able to create the subsequent 8" tall sculpture.  The first was given to the donor last week who had helped make this project a reality.    On Belay now has a maquette to offer to donors in the future!  http://www.on-belay.org/

I’m excited to share that I have a solo show coming up at Chalk Gallery in Newburyport, MA!

“In the Realm of Myth and Archetypes” explores the universal stories that shape us. Using baling wire as both line and structure to create archetypal forms and mythic figures, this collection of work reimagines ancient narratives in an expressive, minimalist form. From rivers and stars, to movement and our timeless connections to the earth, each sculpture explores an aspect of the mysterious ways in which the universe tugs upon us. In the days and weeks leading up to the show, I’ll be sharing some of the pieces that will be featured at Chalk, along with more about my artistic process, history, and the themes and questions that have long guided my work and identity as an artist.  Please consider supporting my work if you feel moved to do so!  See Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/solo-show-coming-134323909?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link Join me for the opening reception on August 14...

Today I heard from the team at the City of Sunrise that they want the sculpture to be powdercoated in blue. I love it!
